SCARLET DRAGON TOURNAMENT

Scarlet Dragon Tournament is going to be the sixth certified tournament held in Poland, whose results will be included into European Mahjong Association’s riichi ranking list. The tournament continues the tradition of all-Polish tournaments initiated by Warsaw University Japanese Studies students in '80 and reactivated in 2009. This year we wish to commemorate the 90th anniversary of mahjong's first appearance in Poland (22nd November 1924). With reference to that, we have entitled this year’s tournament Kujū. This japanese word can be written in two ways – with ideograms meaning Scarlet Dragon (which symbolizes one of the game tiles – Red Dragon) or with kanji characters for number 90. By organising such events regularly, we hope to make mahjong popular in our country again.
